Vivien Lloyd takes a number of courses on preserving. Rather than simply spending an afternoon of making jams or chutneys, Vivien will focus on one ingredient and will show just how versatile it can be, making jams, jellies, syrups and even fruit vinegars and gins. Often raspberries, apples , tomatoes and chillis are in glut so these sessions are invaluable in making the most of the bounty. In November, Vivien will run a one-off course on Edible Christmas Gifts to show you how to make a range of gifts fit for a gourmet.

Alan Berry of Blackmore Vale Cider introduces you to the basics of making apple juice and cider. You’ll learn about apples and the equipment you need and will follow the whole process including the crushing of the fruit, pressing, pasteurising, fermenting and bottling. There will be some drinking involved!

Our ‘A Course at the Empire Farm’ gift vouchers are popular gifts for birthday and Christmas.
