Chickens
We keep a range of chickens, both traditional breeds and hybrids.
Amongst the traditional pure breeds are Welsummers, Light Sussex, Buff and Black Orpingtons, Dark and Gold Brahma, French Copper Maran, Silver-laced Wyandotte and Polish bantams.
Our large fowl can be kept for both egg and meat.


The cockerels, especially the Welsummers, produce a good meat, although they grow more slowly than commercial hybrids.
In addition, we have some hybrid egg layers such as White Star, Bluebell, and Black Rock and a selection of meat chickens including Mastergris, and Sassos.
