Gundog Training
We work several of our dogs, and beat or pick up with them on a couple of local shoots during the season, though not nearly as frequently as we would like. Somehow, Sally even finds time to edit the Weimaraner Club of Great Britain newsletter.
We are keen supporters of all types of gundog, especially HPR (Hunt, Point and Retrive) breeds, and our fields are regularly used for organised gundog training throughout the year.
The lake that we have recently created has been specially designed with gundog training in mind, having both shallows and deep water, easy and difficult entries and a couple of islands. The spoil has been used to create some rougher terrain (the rest of the farm being mostly level ground) that provides the dogs with some more challenging areas in which to work.
Gundog Training at the Empire Farm
Christine Carpenter runs gundog classes here at the Empire Farm for Weimaraners on the last Sunday of the month and for other HPR breeds through the Bristol and West Working Gundog Club on the second Tuesday of the month.
If you would like to book the grounds for training or a working test, please give us a call to discuss what facilities we can offer. We can even provide the services of a Trainer, on a group or one-to-one basis, if required.
