Duck House

Duck House

This duck house is designed to house two large ducks, such as Aylesburys, or up to four smaller ducks. It has a large pop hole and a ramp for easy access.

Ducks are easy to keep. They can be a bit mucky as they need water in which to dip their heads, so an old sand pit or something similar makes a perfect little pond for them.

Ducks are wonderful for slug control, spending much of their day rummaging around in the undergrowth in search of juicy slugs and snails and other minibeasts. However, not all ducks mix well with vegetables! Heavier breeds suchas the Aylesbury, Rouen, Saxony and Magpies, will damage small plants in flower and vegetable beds, but the smaller black East Indies and call ducks do little damage, and so are great for the garden.

The door can be easily opened and closed and has a catch to hold it closed or open. Access to inspect the birds can be gained via a full width back door which detaches using quick release pins. When the door is removed, there is no 'lip' on the floor edge. This, and the fact that the roof removes in seconds as well, makes regular cleaning a breeze.

Fully adjustable circular vents provide plenty of ventilation. Even though the sides are made from black plastic, the house remains surprisingly cool, even in strong, direct summer sunlight.

Being plastic, there are few crevices for pests to hide in, and the house can be thoroughly cleaned very easily – in seconds if you have a pressure washer. And it will dry out very quickly, too.

Carry handles are cut into the roof, so it is easy to move. But, even if you need to dismantle your duck house for any reason, perhaps because you are moving house for example, you can easily do so and then rebuild it just as easily. Your hen house will not be damaged by this process.

There are four colour options to choose from: Green, Red, Blue or Yellow. The colour applies to the roof and the door only - all other plastic parts are black.

Options include a set of wheels and a stand.

Dimensions: 69 (w) x 78 (h) x 85 (d) cm (excl ramp)
